Your trucks keep the business moving. Your insurance deserves a serious review.
Commercial auto and fleet insurance for established Texas contractors and businesses, reviewed by an independent agency that understands how underwriters look at work trucks, service vans, and the people who drive them.

Why it matters
Commercial auto is often one of the largest insurance costs a growing business carries.
And it is one of the least forgiving to get wrong. Not every account belongs with the same insurance company. Vehicle types, driver records, operating radius, loss history, contracts, and years in business all shape which markets will look at an account and how they price it.
Our role is to understand your operation, present it accurately, and approach the markets that appear to fit. As an independent agency, we have access to multiple insurance markets for standard and specialty commercial auto, subject to eligibility.
What underwriters look at| Unit | Vehicle | Radius |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | ¾-ton pickup, service body | 50 mi |
| 02 | High-roof cargo van | 50 mi |
| 03 | 1-ton flatbed | 200 mi |
| 04 | Box truck, 26K GVW | 200 mi |
| 05 | Equipment trailer | — |
What we look at in a fleet review
- Vehicle schedule: types, weights, values, garaging, and use
- Driver list, motor vehicle records, and hiring standards
- Five years of loss history, and what changed since
- Operating radius and where your vehicles actually go
- Liability limits against the contracts you sign
- Hired, non-owned, and take-home vehicle exposures
- How auto fits with your general liability and umbrella
An agency, not a quote engine
A comparison website collects data. An agency represents your account.
Online insurance marketplaces are built for volume. Established commercial fleets are better served by someone who reads the loss runs, asks about the drivers, and explains the coverage before anything is bound.
Real people at a Texas agency
You work with our agency staff in Corpus Christi, by phone and email, before and after the policy is written.
More than 20 years in insurance
Owner and agent Gil Harris has spent more than two decades in the insurance business, much of it with contractors and commercial operations.
Access to multiple markets
As an independent agency, we can look at more than one insurance market — standard and specialty — when an account calls for it.
Submissions underwriters can work with
We know what a complete commercial auto submission looks like and tell you exactly what is missing.
Limits that match your contracts
We read the insurance requirements in the agreements you sign and structure limits and endorsements to meet them.
The whole program, not one policy
Auto, general liability, workers’ compensation, and umbrella should work together. We look at how they fit.

Qualify first. Quote second. Then build a long-term relationship.
We would rather tell you early that a review isn’t worthwhile than send you through a long application for nothing. Here is how it works.
Start your fleet reviewYou tell us about the business
A short form covering your fleet, drivers, current insurance, and renewal date. Upload documents if you have them handy.
We review the account
We look at the operation and tell you whether a market review looks worthwhile.
We tell you what’s missing
If it looks like a fit, we ask for anything else underwriters will need.
We approach the appropriate markets
Only the markets that appear to fit your vehicles, drivers, and operations.
We walk you through the results
Premium, coverage, limits, deductibles, and service, side by side, with a straight recommendation.
Is this a fit?
We do our best work with established operations.
We’re likely a good fit if
- You’ve been in business a few years and run multiple commercial vehicles
- You currently carry commercial auto insurance
- You can provide policy, vehicle, driver, and loss information
- You have a renewal coming up, or a real reason to review the program
- You’d seriously consider a change if pricing, coverage, or service improved
A full review may not be possible yet if
- The business is newly formed or has no current commercial auto coverage
- Policy, loss, or driver information isn’t available
- You need a single personal-use vehicle insured
- The only goal is the lowest possible monthly payment
For personal auto, home, and other needs, our main agency site at vikingtexas.com is the right place to start.

Loss Runs Explained: How to Request and Read Them

There is no single cutoff. Most of the businesses we work with on this site run somewhere between 5 and 50 commercial vehicles, and we are especially well suited to fleets of 10 or more. Insurance companies define “fleet” differently, so we look at each established operation individually.
Can you give us an instant quote?
No, and that is deliberate. Commercial auto pricing depends on your vehicles, drivers, loss history, radius, and operations. We review the account first, tell you whether a market review looks worthwhile, and then approach the insurance markets that appear to fit.
Will you save us money?
We can’t promise that, and you should be cautious of anyone who does before seeing your loss runs and driver list. What we can do is tell you honestly whether a review looks worthwhile and show you what the available markets offer on premium, coverage, limits, and service.
What do we need to get started?
Your current commercial auto policy or renewal proposal, recent loss runs, and your vehicle and driver lists are the core. You don’t need all of it to start — submit what you have and we’ll tell you what’s missing. See what to have ready.
